Mission Statement |
To serve as the voice of rural, agricultural,
and suburban New Jersey by identifying problems, proposing solutions, and taking actions
which will enhance the quality of life of all citizens. To keep in contact with
Legislators, both in the State of New Jersey, and also on the Federal level, making them
aware of the concerns of not only Grange members, but all people, regarding important and
current issues. The Legislative Department of the National Grange will stand. Changes will
be made. Changes are beneficial in order to survive! The Legislative Department has been
an important and necessary part of the Grange since it began in 1867.

United We Stand …
Divided We Fall
“Face Forward … Focus on the Future”
 |
|
There certainly are
never-ending subjects to choose from.
Suggestion: Assign a different person each meeting to make a
legislative report. This does not overburden one person and you will
find it most interesting what these people can do.

FREEDOM … The quality or state of being free … independent …
enjoying political independence, such as a FREE NATION … autonomous,
which implies strict independence in theory, but in practice often
implies self-government … as in matters pertaining to the country
itself.
TRUTH … The facts, what actually happened, reality – fidelity,
constancy, sincerity, veracity, the quality of a thing that is
exactly what it purports to be, or is in complete accordance with
the facts.
LIBERTY … Privilege; franchise; right or immunity by grant; freedom
from external restraint or control of another…the sum of the rights
and immunities of all the citizens of an organized civil community
concurrent with the guaranteed protection against interference with
such rights and privileges … individual liberty now generally
involves freedom of the person in going and coming, equality before
the courts, security of private property, freedom of opinion and its
expressions, and freedom of conscience.
THEREFORE … What does all this mean? Basically all three are closely
connected. We the people of these United States have freedom and
liberty, we have the freedom and liberty to vote and change the
system or those who represent us. We have the freedom and liberty
to, at any time, to contact our President, Governor, Senators, and
House of Representatives, etc. with our ideas and concerns. The
“truth” segment of this will only be accomplished with your
“action”! Are you going to stand by and let someone else do your
work or are you going to “get on your soapbox” and let your voice be
heard! Legislative issues need your ACTION!

OUR QUESTION … Do you have an ACTIVE Legislative Director in your
Grange? Don’t be afraid to call any of the above committee at any
time. Try hard to get letters off to your legislators…listen to both
sides of the issues of your concerns.

DON’T FORGET TO BUY A FLAG/EMBLEM PIN FROM THE LEGISLATIVE DEPT.
MEMBERS! BE PROUD OF YOUR COUNTRY AND THE GRANGE.
